That is probably the most common question I am asked when customers look through my photography collection. There are many different techniques used to get the best out of your camera, and it is unrealistic to expect most people to learn these techniques from a book.
The answer is "yes" of course, but many people are just too shy to ask what they see as "stupid questions". On a one to one basis photographers tend to be much more open and are quite happy to ask away. Not only do they get the answers to their questions, but they have the time to actually practise newly learned techniques. That way the answers usually remain lodged in your brain and are not forgotten the following morning.
Some pictures, like the bats and ants on this page for instance, are very difficult to find in a setting where they can be photographed. There are places, however, where this can be achieved. Photographers on Safari are quite happy to meet you individually at these locations, spend the day with you and teach you not only the required techniques, but to also assist you in getting some great shots.
Again not a problem. Photographers on Safari have digital cameras, lenses and flashguns for your use on these days. You are welcome to use your own, but allowing you to use our Canon equipment is all part of the service.
Definitely not. We are just as happy to advise and help film users as we are users of digital photography.
Beginners are most certainly welcome. All our courses, workshops and even our holidays abroad usually include a complete novice, or very often someone who doesn't even possess a camera. One to One advice is readily available on all our workshops, holidays and courses.
Zoos and animal parks are great for wildlife photography. There does however always seem to be a fence, a piece of glass or some other obstruction in the way. Another problem can be the glare of a flashgun when shooting through glass. Photographers on Safari will show you how to overcome these problems and how to capture some great images at the same time.
Definitely not. Landscape photography is a very similar process, but one that uses a different set of priorities when setting up your camera. Composition of the shot is often much more critical.
It is difficult to put a fixed figure on this without knowing the location and exactly what is involved. A typical charge for a day's tuition at a place of your choice in England would be between £250.00 and £300.00. Contact us for a price.
Contrary to the booking situation with regular photo-courses, unless on a world tour, Photographers on Safari can usually put aside a day for you at about a week's notice. Contact us by e-mail or by phone to determine availability and the exact cost.
