These workshops are suitable for both film and digital cameras. They offer privileged close-up access to animals and birds within the UK. You will be given outstanding opportunities to capture realistic "in the wild" photographs of the more elusive species. This will be combined with a Tips and Tuition session designed to help improve your photographic techniques.
British wildlife at its best! The animals are housed in large, natural enclosures that are tailor-made for taking fantastic photos. Badgers here are fed daily at 3.30 pm, therefore guaranteeing photo opportunities. We are privileged to be allowed inside the Fox & Pine Marten enclosures. Otters, Lynx & Wolves are also photographed from inside the barriers.
The north-east of England is arguably the UK’s best location for seabird photography. Bass Rock is just 60miles north of the Farne Islands, and can be combined with the Farne Island workshop to provide two days of magical opportunities. Bass Rock is the largest single gannet colony in the world. Private boat plus 5 hours photographing gannets. Exclusive use of the island. Accompanied by specialist ornithologist.
This workshop is held at the English School of Falconry, Bedford. We will photograph various Owls, Hawks, Eagles, Falcons, Kestrel & Vultures. Private flying displays on pre-determined flight-paths are organised for us to provide fantastic flying shots, plus static photo set-ups in stunning natural locations.
The Wildlife Heritage Foundation Big Cat Sanctuary in Kent houses a number of endangered big cats with a view to breeding and, where possible, re-introduction to the wild. Although this centre is not open to the general public, Photographers On Safari have arranged for photographers to have privileged up-close access to these amazing animals. Lions, Tigers, Leopards, Cheetah and Ocelot are our subjects here.
This location offers absolutely amazing photo opportunities. Large enclosures have been created here to house wildlife that are normally almost impossible to get close to in the wild. Photographers On Safari have made a special arrangement with the centre to allow you to photograph through that very special golden light when the sun is setting. Wildlife photography at it's best. Inside enclosures with Otters, Scottish Wildcat & Foxes, plus Buzzard, Barn Owl, Little Owl, Deer, Squirrels & more.
This is a fantastic brand new venue for photography workshops. We will have privileged access to photograph the Gorillas. There will be no barriers or fences to cope with. There are 2 amazingly natural enclosures for Colobus Monkeys & Red Pandas. Again no wires or fences. We then enjoy an off-road VIP African Safari, featuring Black Rhino, Wildebeest, Zebra, Ostrich, Giraffe, Eland Przewalski's Horses, various Deer and African Wild Dog.
This workshop has a different format to most. It is a combined introduction to wildlife photography, spending 50% of your time in a classroom situation and 50% photographing animals and birds. The practical side has been designed predominantly for beginners and intermediates. People of all abilities, however, are most welcome. Your pictures taken during the morning session will be reviewed and advice given . Fantastic privileged access to Cheetahs and Corsac Foxes
The north-east of England is arguably the UK’s best location for seabird photography. This workshop can be combined with the Bass Rock workshop to provide two days of magical photo opportunities. Photographers On Safari have arranged for you to spend an extra 50% more time on each island than is normally available. You will spend towards 3 hours at the Staple Island Bird Sanctuary and almost a further 3 hours on Inner Farne. Guillemots, Razorbills, Shag, Kittiwakes, Eider Ducks, 4 species of Tern and an incredible 70,000 Puffins.
Santago in Hertfordshire is a long standing favourite of many nature photographers. Santago’s main objective is to breed from some of the world’s most endangered leopards. Here you will find African, Clouded, Persian, and Snow Leopards alongside Cougar/Puma and Black Panther. These cats are all housed in specially constructed camera friendly enclosures that allow lenses to be placed through purpose built cut-outs. You can photograph these animals with nothing more than fresh air between your lens and the cats, and backgrounds are superb.
Not to be confused with Santago, this venue provides quite a different selection of cats to those that you would find in other collections. Some of the cats form part of breeding programmes, and some have been acquired from zoos and private collections. We photograph all the cats from inside the outer enclosures. This access is not enjoyed by the general public. Lynx, Bobcats, Caracals, Jaguar, Ocelot, Geoffroys Cats, Pumas & 2 families of Snow Leopards.
We will be off-road, and this will enable us to position the vehicle wherever we choose. We can therefore make the best use of the available light and, more importantly, can ensure that we have backgrounds and foregrounds that are free from the usual fences and vehicles. A maximum of 3 photographers in a 8 seater vehicle ensures some amazing wildlife photography opportunities. Lions, Tigers, Bears , Wolves, Rhino, Giraffe, & Zebra from just a few feet away, plus we go inside the Lemur enclosure.
